At the junction of the main Amalfi Coast road and the road to Monte Pertuso, take the steps by the side of the bus shelter. These go steeply up and eventually become a trail almost all in the shade of the woods (good in hot weather). In early autumn and until the spring, clusters of wild cyclamen flower under the trees bringing a splash of colour along the way.
The trail is easily followed. There are a few minor turnings which you should ignore always keeping to the main path. Official notice boards have been put up at strategic points. When you come to one indicating left or right, take the left fork which will bring you up to an iron cross (on your left at the very top). Leave the path for a moment to go to the cross. You will see Positano vertically below. Go back to the path which widens and becomes a track. Follow this round to the right and you will find mini crossroads. Keep straight on and you will come into Santa Maria del Castello.
Drop in at Zi Peppe's and have a drink or even better lunch!
The route back to Positano is via Le Tese. To find the starting point, walk back along the road you came in on, turn left at the mini crossroads and then, instead of turning right along the paved road, keep straight on into a field. Follow the track to the edge of the plateau, turn left and in about 100m. you will come to the start of Le Tese.
From now on just follow the path as it descends in a long series of loops.
This will bring you to the Monte Pertuso road on the outskirts of upper Positano (Corbo). Walk back down the road to the junction that was our starting point.

A pleasant loop, be it with little walking on a level. It is basically uphill and then down!
